Mandatory evacuations ordered in US states as Hurricane Isaias approaches
Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued in parts of the United States as Hurricane Isaias strengthens while moving toward the country’s Gulf Coast.
According to US media reports, Hurricane Isaias, which formed over the Atlantic Ocean, intensified into a Category 2 storm as it approached the southern US coast. Authorities warned that the storm could bring dangerous winds, heavy rainfall, flooding and storm surges.
The hurricane is expected to reach the coast late Friday or early Saturday, with forecasts indicating that it could cause severe weather conditions across affected areas.
Emergency evacuation orders were issued in some coastal areas of Florida, while Alabama and other states in the storm’s expected path declared emergency measures ahead of the hurricane’s arrival.
Authorities urged residents in vulnerable areas to follow evacuation instructions and prepare for possible disruptions caused by the storm.
Meanwhile, some airports in Florida suspended operations ahead of the hurricane, while disruptions to rail services were also expected as precautionary measures were taken.(ILKHA)
