Hope Caravan to organize charity bazaar in Diyarbakır to raise funds for orphans, needy families
Hope Caravan (Umut Kervanı), an international aid organisation, will hold a week-long charity bazaar in Diyarbakır from October 12 to 18 to raise funds for orphans, disadvantaged people and families in need, its local chairman said.
The bazaar will take place at Dağkapı Şeyh Said Square and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Diyarbakır Hope Caravan Chairman Emin Akyüz said.
The event will offer a range of goods, including clothing, shoes, electronic products, food and other essential items. Proceeds will support the organisation's humanitarian assistance programmes.
Akyüz said preparations had begun about two months before the event, with volunteers visiting business owners and donors to explain the bazaar's objectives and encourage contributions.
He said donations from businesses and philanthropists would play a key role in the event, with some supporters contributing products for sale and others providing financial assistance.
“We use the income obtained for the benefit of orphans, the needy and those in need,” Akyüz said, calling on businesses and members of the public to support the initiative according to their means.
Bazaar to support social market
Akyüz said proceeds would also help sustain Hope Caravan’s recently opened social market in Diyarbakır, which provides assistance to people facing financial hardship.
He said the market required a steady source of funding to continue its activities, adding that revenue from the bazaar would contribute to its long-term operation.
The organisation relies on regular donations from philanthropists, while the bazaar provides an additional opportunity to generate funds and collect goods for its aid programmes, he said.
Akyüz invited residents to visit the bazaar, shop and make donations, while encouraging traders to contribute products from their respective sectors.
He said the event would also include activities for children and young people, aiming to create a community gathering alongside its fundraising purpose.
The bazaar will open on October 12, following preparations scheduled for October 11, and run through October 18. (ILKHA)
