HÜDA PAR MP calls for prosecution of dual Turkish-Israeli citizens over Gaza genocide
A lawmaker from Türkiye on Thursday criticized international silence over what he described as an ongoing genocide in Gaza, calling for urgent action to hold dual Turkish-Israeli citizens accountable for participating in military operations against Palestinians.
Speaking on the anniversary of the Oct. 7 Al-Aqsa Flood operation during a rally in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır, Faruk Dinç, a member of parliament for the Free Cause Party (HÜDA PAR), said three years of unceasing Israeli aggression had exposed the hypocrisy of Western human rights frameworks.
"For three years, a living genocide has been unfolding in Gaza while the world looks on," Dinç said. "International law, human rights declarations, and charters on women's and children's rights have remained mere words on paper. The West's mask has completely fallen."
Dinç asserted that Israel continues its genocidal campaign in total disregard of international law and diplomatic guarantors, stating that Zionism represents the primary obstacle to global peace and human dignity.
"Zionism is the enemy of humanity—not just Palestinians, Gaza, or Hamas," Dinç said, urging Muslim-majority nations and the international community to unite their resources and defense capabilities to counter Israeli occupation forces.
The lawmaker raised pressure on the Turkish parliament to enact a legislative proposal submitted by his party in December 2023. The bill targets dual Turkish-Israeli citizens who enlist in the Israeli occupation forces, seeking to revoke their Turkish citizenship, confiscate their assets, and prosecute them for war crimes in Gaza.
Although parliament approved the bill for consideration in July 2024, it remains queued behind dozens of other legislative items, according to Dinç.
"Those who live on our soil and eat our bread, only to go voluntarily to join the occupying army and drop bombs on oppressed civilians, must face justice," Dinç said, demanding that parliament prioritize the measure. "Holding these individuals accountable is a fundamental moral and legislative responsibility." (ILKHA)
