Türkiye’s FM Hakan Fidan holds talks with UN Secretary-General on regional crises
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday to discuss several regional and international issues, diplomatic sources said.
During the call, the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments in Gaza and the West Bank, with Fidan underlining the urgent need for a lasting ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and unimpeded humanitarian access. He also shared Türkiye’s assessment of the ongoing talks between Iran and the United States, stressing the importance of diplomacy in reducing regional tensions.
The discussion also covered the Cyprus issue, with Fidan reiterating Türkiye’s position on the need for a fair, sustainable, and realistic solution based on the realities on the island. Guterres, for his part, emphasized the UN’s continued engagement in addressing regional crises and supporting dialogue-based solutions. (ILKHA)
