HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu visits earthquake-bereaved family in Kahramanmaraş
HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu visited Abdullah Özdemir, who lost several close family members in the February 6 earthquakes, during a series of commemorative visits in Kahramanmaraş marking the anniversary of the disaster.
As part of his visit to the earthquake-hit province, Yapıcıoğlu went to the home of Özdemir, who lost his son, daughter-in-law, grandchild, and nephew in the devastating quakes that struck southern Türkiye last year.
Speaking during the visit, Yapıcıoğlu underscored the scale of the tragedy and the ongoing responsibility to prevent similar disasters in the future.
“We are in an earthquake zone and we continue to live in this geography. Taking all necessary measures to prevent new tragedies is no longer a matter of choice, but an obligation,” he said.
Stressing that the reality of earthquakes must not be forgotten, Yapıcıoğlu called for permanent and serious disaster preparedness measures, particularly in the area of building safety. He emphasized that the state and all relevant institutions bear responsibility for ensuring effective and lasting precautions.
During the visit, prayers were offered for those who lost their lives in the earthquakes, and Yapıcıoğlu conveyed his condolences to the family, wishing them patience and strength.
Abdullah Özdemir and his family expressed their appreciation for the visit and thanked Yapıcıoğlu for his support and solidarity. (ILKHA)
