The blood of martyrs: A catalyst for Islamic unity and victory
A commemorative program was held in Istanbul to honor Muslims who attained martyrdom while striving for the cause of Islam in different parts of the world, with special remembrance given to those who were martyred in the month of February.
Organized by Prophet's Lovers Foundation (Peygamber Sevdalıları Vakfı) under the title “Night of the Martyrs,” the event took place at the Bahçelievler Cemil Meriç Cultural Center. The program began with a moving recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Hamza Tarhan, setting a solemn and spiritual atmosphere.
The night continued with nasheeds performed by artists from the Özlem Agency, accompanied by a video presentation reflecting on the lives, sacrifices, and legacy of the martyrs.
“Martyrdom is value that lead the Ummah to victory”
Addressing the audience, Islamic scholar Mehmet Ali Ortaç delivered a speech centered on the Islamic understanding of martyrdom and sacrifice. He emphasized that martyrdom and shahada are sacred concepts belonging to Islam, rooted in faith, sincerity, and devotion to Allah.
Ortaç stated that these values have historically strengthened the Muslim Ummah and continue to inspire resistance against oppression. He noted that recent events, particularly in Gaza, have once again demonstrated the power of faith-driven steadfastness, explaining that even prolonged aggression has failed to break the resolve of believers who seek martyrdom for the sake of Allah.
“The blood of martyrs brings blessing to Islam”
Ortaç described martyrdom as a divine blessing for the Islamic cause, saying that the blood of martyrs revives the Ummah, awakens consciences, and exposes injustice. He said that throughout history, the sacrifice of martyrs has brought spiritual strength and unity to Muslims, while serving as a warning to those who commit ظلم (oppression).
Referring to various examples, he stated that the sacrifices made by martyrs in different regions have not been in vain, but have instead contributed to the spread of truth, awareness, and resistance against tyranny. He added that the martyrs of Gaza, in particular, have become a source of inspiration and honor for the entire Islamic world.
“Faith and the longing for shahada keep the Ummah standing”
Highlighting that martyrs fear none but Allah, Ortaç said that sincere faith and the desire for shahada empower Muslims to remain firm in the face of threats and pressure. He pointed to Gaza, Afghanistan, Yemen, and other regions, saying that Muslims there continue to stand upright because of their unwavering belief and trust in Allah.
He concluded by stating that the path of the martyrs can only be carried forward through strong iman, sincerity, and a willingness to sacrifice for justice and truth in the way of Allah.
The program concluded with a heartfelt prayer led by Ramazan Sincar, asking Allah to accept the martyrs, grant patience to their families, and strengthen the Islamic Ummah. (ILKHA)
