Ramadan-themed activities launched in Turkish schools under national education initiative
Schools across Türkiye have begun organizing Ramadan-themed activities under a nationwide initiative launched by the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, bringing the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month into classrooms and school corridors.
The program, titled “Maarifin Kalbinde Ramazan” (Ramadan at the Heart of Education), includes the preparation of themed notice boards, student presentations, poetry recitals, and activities emphasizing sharing and solidarity.
According to reports published in Turkish media on Feb. 18, schools across the country decorated classrooms and common areas with Ramadan-themed visuals, student artwork, and informational materials explaining the meaning and significance of the holy month.
Teachers are guiding students through activities designed to strengthen cultural awareness and moral values. Programs focus on themes such as generosity, cooperation, and social responsibility, reflecting the broader social dimension of Ramadan in Turkish society.
The initiative aims to foster unity and reinforce moral values among students while encouraging community spirit within schools. School administrators say the events have been met with positive engagement from both students and educators.
Türkiye, a predominantly Muslim country, traditionally observes Ramadan with public and community-based activities. In recent years, educational institutions have increasingly incorporated cultural and values-based programs aligned with national curricula and social traditions.
