Türkiye's turnover index soars 33.4% in March, driven by trade and services
Türkiye’s economy showed robust growth in March 2025, with the total turnover index surging 33.4% year-on-year, fueled by strong performances in the trade and services sectors, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Monday.
The turnover index, which tracks revenue across industry, construction, trade, and services, highlighted significant annual gains despite global and regional economic challenges. The trade sector led the charge with a 37.8% increase, followed by services at 35.9%. Industry and construction also posted solid growth, with turnovers rising 25.1% and 26.3%, respectively, compared to March 2024.
On a monthly basis, the total turnover index climbed 4.2% from February to March 2025. Industry and trade sectors saw strong gains, with turnovers up 5.5% and 5.8%, respectively, while services edged up by 0.5%. However, the construction sector faced a setback, with turnover dropping 4.6% month-on-month.
The total turnover index, benchmarked to 2021=100, serves as a critical measure of business revenue in Türkiye’s real economy. The sustained growth, particularly in trade and services, underscores resilient domestic and export demand, signaling continued economic momentum in the face of global headwinds. (ILKHA)
