Erdoğan vows to decrease inflation to single-digit level again
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pledged that Türkiye will bring inflation down to single digits, emphasizing that the government’s economic roadmap is already yielding positive signs.
His remarks came during an address at the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK) in Ankara.
Erdoğan highlighted improving indicators for November, noting that the monthly inflation rate of 0.87 percent demonstrates that the country is moving in the right direction.
“In November, we are faced with a picture in inflation that raises our hopes. The 0.87 percent monthly inflation in November shows we are on the right path,” he said.
The president also pointed to a gradual normalization in pricing behavior, which he described as one of the key factors behind the high cost of living. He reiterated that the government’s efforts to curb opportunistic pricing practices continue “at full pace.”
Erdoğan reaffirmed the central role of the Medium Term Program (MTP) in guiding the fight against inflation and steering Türkiye’s economic transformation. “Under the guidance of the Medium Term Program, we will definitely achieve single digits in inflation, which is our ultimate goal,” he said.
He assured business leaders that their perspectives will continue to be taken into account during this process. “Throughout this process, we will give ear to the real sector’s recommendations, demands, and criticisms, as we have always done,” Erdoğan added. (ILKHA)
