Number of paid employees in Türkiye rises 1% annually in October
The number of paid employees in Türkiye increased by 1.0 percent on an annual basis in October 2025, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Monday.
TurkStat said the total number of paid employees across the industry, construction, and trade-services sectors reached 16 million 20 thousand 394 in October 2025, up from 15 million 860 thousand 31 recorded in the same month of the previous year.
Sectoral data revealed mixed trends. While employment in the industrial sector declined by 3.5 percent year-on-year, the construction sector recorded a strong increase of 6.2 percent, and the trade-services sector expanded by 2.5 percent compared to October 2024.
On a monthly basis, the total number of paid employees showed no overall percentage change in October 2025 compared with September.
However, slight variations were observed among sub-sectors. Employment in the industrial sector decreased by 0.3 percent, while the construction sector saw a 0.3 percent increase. The trade-services sector posted a modest monthly rise of 0.1 percent, according to the data.
The figures indicate continued growth in employment driven primarily by construction and service-related activities, while industrial employment remains under pressure, reflecting ongoing structural and sector-specific challenges in the economy. (ILKHA)
