Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit Egypt on June 20-21 to participate in the fourth meeting of the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The ministry announced that Fidan will travel to Cairo for the high-level diplomatic gathering, which is expected to focus on regional developments, ongoing geopolitical challenges, and avenues for strengthening cooperation among the four countries.
The Türkiye-Egypt-Pakistan-Saudi Arabia consultation mechanism was established to promote dialogue and coordination on issues of mutual concern, including regional security, political developments in the Middle East, economic cooperation, and humanitarian crises affecting the wider Islamic world.
Diplomatic sources indicated that the ministers are expected to exchange views on recent developments in the region, including the situation in Palestine, security challenges facing the Middle East, and efforts to enhance stability through increased diplomatic engagement.
The meeting comes amid growing regional and international efforts to address ongoing conflicts and strengthen cooperation among key Muslim-majority countries. Observers note that the quartet format has gained increasing significance as participating nations seek to coordinate positions on major regional and global issues.
During his visit, Minister Fidan is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the gathering to discuss issues related to political relations, economic partnerships, trade, defense cooperation, and regional diplomacy.
The fourth ministerial meeting is expected to reaffirm the commitment of Türkiye, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia to maintaining dialogue and expanding cooperation on matters affecting regional peace, security, and development.
The gathering in Cairo reflects continuing diplomatic efforts among the four countries to deepen coordination and contribute to addressing common challenges facing the region and the broader Islamic world. (ILKHA)
