Afghanistan, China discuss strengthening bilateral ties in Kabul meeting
Afghanistan’s Interior Minister, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, met with China’s Ambassador to Kabul, Zhao Xing, to discuss strategies for enhancing cooperation between the two nations, officials confirmed on Monday.
During the meeting, Minister Haqqani acknowledged China’s constructive efforts on regional issues and emphasized that Afghanistan is seeking broader stability. He stressed that the country’s current priorities are focused on resolving internal challenges and ensuring the well-being of the Afghan people.
Ambassador Zhao Xing reaffirmed China’s interest in maintaining a positive and cooperative relationship with the interim Afghan government. The two sides explored potential avenues for strengthened political and security cooperation, though no specific agreements were announced.
The talks come as Afghanistan continues to seek deeper engagement with regional powers to address economic and security concerns while moving toward what its leadership describes as a stable and self-reliant future.
