Tehran warns Israel’s attacks threaten regional stability

Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ali Bahraini, delivered a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent military assault on Qatar, describing it as part of a broader pattern of aggression that threatens regional and global stability.
Speaking at an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday, Bahraini characterized the attack as more than a mere violation of international norms. “This act of aggression is more than a violation—it is a stark signal,” he said. “It reflects the behavior of a regime with a long-standing record of systematic genocide and repeated attacks. It also serves as a grave warning to the international community. Our collective failure to uphold legal and moral standards has empowered a destructive force that threatens global peace and order.”
The Iranian diplomat warned that Israel’s expansionist policies could spread like a “cancerous tumor,” destabilizing the region if left unchecked. He added that Israel’s disregard for international law and rejection of dialogue and peace underscores the urgent need for a unified global response. “Without a firm and unified response from the international community, Israel’s aggression will persist and metastasize, posing a threat to every nation in the region. We must act decisively to safeguard our people and humanity,” Bahraini emphasized.
Bahraini highlighted Iran’s role in temporarily halting the violence, stating that the cessation of Israel’s operations was achieved only after intervention by Iranian armed forces. He reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for Qatar, declaring, “We stand in full solidarity with the Qatari people and government, and we endorse all efforts and initiatives aimed at holding Israel accountable for its actions.”
The emergency session in Geneva was convened at the request of Qatar and a coalition of Islamic nations, following the Israeli attack on Qatari territory on September 9. The meeting focused on the broader implications of Israel’s aggression, with member states urged to take decisive action to prevent further destabilization of the Middle East.
Observers note that Iran’s statement reflects rising tensions between Israel and Islamic countries, underscoring the potential for coordinated regional responses and increasing international scrutiny of Israel’s military operations. (ILKHA)
