International aid reaches earthquake-stricken Kunar province in Afghanistan

A devastating 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province has claimed 3,000 lives and injured 4,000, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The disaster, which destroyed 16 health centers and left many residents trapped under rubble for over ten days, has prompted a swift response from international humanitarian organizations.
Four sister organizations—Hope Caravan Foundation (Umut Kervanı Vakfı), Orphans Foundation (Yetimler Vakfı), European Orphan Hand (Avrupa Yetim Eli), and IHO EBRAR—have mobilized to deliver critical aid to the affected population. Coordinating closely with the Afghanistan Earthquake Commission, these groups distributed blankets, tents, and food packages to villages hardest hit by the quake.
The aid, collected from donors in Türkiye and Europe, was handed over to local authorities and volunteers for systematic distribution. A representative of the four organizations expressed gratitude to donors: “We delivered aid sent from Türkiye to the earthquake zone and handed it over to the commission here. We will continue distributing this aid regularly to the affected villages. May God accept your donations and protect you from harm, insha’Allah.”
Footage from the region shows humanitarian teams working tirelessly to reach remote and devastated areas, highlighting the scale of the disaster and the difficulty of delivering aid.
The Orphans Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to the relief efforts: “We stand by our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan. Together with our partner organizations, we have worked to heal the wounds of those suffering in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. With the support of our donors, we have delivered food, tents, blankets, and other necessities to ease their hardship. We remain committed to supporting oppressed regions with a sense of ummah consciousness.”
Rescue operations are ongoing as teams continue to recover bodies and assist survivors. The WHO has noted that the destruction of health infrastructure has severely hampered medical response, underscoring the urgent need for sustained international aid.
The four partner organizations have pledged to continue their relief work in Kunar province, aiming to alleviate the suffering of thousands affected by the earthquake. (ILKHA)
