Erdogan meets family of slain Palestinian child Hind Rajab in Ankara
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has received family members and relatives of six-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, offering condolences and reaffirming Türkiye’s support for the Palestinian people amid Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza.
Hind Rajab was killed after being trapped in a car that came under Israeli fire in Gaza, an incident that drew widespread international outrage and became a symbol of the civilian toll of the war, particularly on children.
According to official sources, President Erdogan expressed his deep sorrow over Hind’s killing and conveyed his condolences to her family, stressing that the suffering of Palestinian children remains a matter of conscience for humanity. He reiterated Türkiye’s stance that those responsible for the deaths of civilians in Gaza must be held accountable under international law.
During the meeting, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye continues to pursue diplomatic and legal efforts on international platforms to end the bloodshed in Gaza and to ensure justice for Palestinian victims, especially children. He also underlined Türkiye’s ongoing humanitarian assistance to Gaza through state institutions and relief organizations.
Family members of Hind Rajab shared their account of the tragedy and thanked Türkiye for standing with the Palestinian people and for keeping the voices of Gaza’s victims alive on the global stage.
The meeting comes as Türkiye intensifies its calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and increases humanitarian aid deliveries, while repeatedly condemning Israel’s actions as grave violations of international law and human rights.
Hind Rajab’s killing has become one of the most painful reminders of the impact of the war on Gaza’s civilian population, with Turkish officials frequently citing her case in appeals to the international community to take concrete action to protect Palestinian civilians. (ILKHA)
