Türkiye successfully performs first surgery using domestically developed heart-lung machine
Türkiye has successfully carried out its first surgery using a domestically developed heart-lung machine, marking a major milestone in the country’s medical technology sector.
The procedure was performed using the first locally produced heart-lung machine developed through cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Turkish defense company ASELSAN.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health said the operation represented a significant breakthrough for Türkiye’s healthcare and medical engineering capabilities, describing it as “one of the turning points in the country’s health industry.”
The ministry added that the historic operation was completed successfully and expressed gratitude to the engineers, physicians, and healthcare workers involved in the project.
Officials emphasized that the successful use of the domestically developed heart-lung machine marks an important step toward strengthening Türkiye’s indigenous production capacity in advanced medical technologies.
The ministry also conveyed its wishes for a speedy recovery to the patient who underwent the operation.(ILKHA)
