Yemeni missile attack causes temporary closure of Israel's Ben Gurion Airport

Yemen’s Ansarullah movement launched a series of precise military operations against the Israeli occupation, temporarily halting operations at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
The Yemeni Armed Forces’ missile and drone strikes, aimed at key Israeli infrastructure, underscore Yemen’s unwavering commitment to supporting the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war.
According to Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Yahya Sari, four successful operations were executed on Tuesday using advanced Samad-4 drones, targeting the heart of the Israeli occupation’s military and economic infrastructure. The strikes hit the Zionist General Staff building, the Hadera power plant, Ben Gurion Airport, and the Ashdod port. In a separate operation, Yemeni forces targeted the MSC Aby, a ship accused of violating Yemen’s maritime ban on vessels linked to the Israeli occupation in the northern Red Sea. The attack utilized two drones and a cruise missile, achieving a direct hit, Seri confirmed.
The operations sent a powerful message to the Israeli regime, forcing the closure of Ben Gurion Airport’s airspace after a Yemeni missile was detected. Israeli media, including Channel 12, reported that a Delta Airlines flight from New York was left circling in the air due to the shutdown. Air raid sirens echoed across Tel Aviv, central Israel, and West Jerusalem, areas that had not experienced such alerts since the assassination of Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Ghalib Al-Rahawi. While Israeli forces claimed to have intercepted the missile, fragments reportedly fell in central Israel, exposing the vulnerabilities of the occupation’s defense systems.
Sari emphasized that these operations are part of Yemen’s resolute campaign to disrupt the Israeli occupation’s activities, including its maritime traffic in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea, until the aggression against Gaza ceases. “Our actions are in solidarity with our brothers in Gaza, who face starvation and slaughter under the occupation’s brutal blockade and attacks,” Seri declared, condemning the inaction of some regional actors who have abandoned the Palestinian cause.
The Israeli war on Gaza, backed by the United States since October 7, 2023, has claimed 63,633 lives, left 160,914 wounded, and resulted in over 9,000 missing persons, with 361 deaths due to starvation, according to Gaza health authorities. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, underscoring the urgency of Yemen’s resistance.
Yemeni forces have vowed to escalate their operations in response to Israel’s continued aggression. Sources within the Houthi movement indicate that additional targets are being considered to further pressure the occupation regime. The successful strikes have galvanized support across Yemen, with public demonstrations in Sana’a celebrating the operations as a triumph for Palestinian solidarity.
The international community, including the United Nations, has called for de-escalation, but Yemen remains steadfast, asserting its right to resist in defense of Palestine. The Ansar Allah leadership has urged global actors to pressure Israel to end its blockade and military campaign in Gaza, warning that further inaction will only strengthen Yemen’s resolve to continue its operations. These bold actions highlight Yemen’s pivotal role in challenging the Israeli occupation and its backers, inspiring hope among those standing in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. (ILKHA)
