Russia’s electric vehicle sales jump 57% in November
Sales of new electric vehicles (EVs) in Russia surged 57 percent year-on-year in November, marking the second consecutive month of growth, according to data released Monday by the automotive analytics agency Autostat.
The report stated that total EV sales reached 1,602 units during the month, signaling a renewed rebound in Russia’s electric vehicle market after a prolonged slowdown earlier in the year.
Domestic manufacturers dominated the market in November. The Russian brand Amberauto recorded a new monthly sales record, selling 404 units and taking first place in overall market share. Another Russian electric vehicle brand, Evolute, ranked second with 222 units sold.
Chinese automakers also maintained a strong presence in the Russian market. The top five best-selling EV brands in November included Zeekr, Xiaomi, and BYD, reflecting the growing role of Chinese manufacturers in filling gaps left by Western automakers that exited the Russian market.
Despite the strong November performance, overall EV sales for the January–November period showed a significant decline. Autostat reported that 11,200 electric vehicles were sold in the first 11 months of the year, representing a 31 percent drop compared to the same period in the previous year.
Industry analysts say the recent growth may indicate early signs of stabilization in Russia’s electric vehicle sector, driven by expanding domestic production and increased availability of Chinese imports, even as the broader market continues to face structural and economic challenges. (ILKHA)
