One killed, eight injured in attack on Saudi Arabia's King Fahd International Airport
One person was killed and eight others injured after an attack targeted King Fahd International Airport in the Saudi city of Dammam, according to the Kingdom's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
In a statement posted on X, GACA said the attack took place on Wednesday evening and confirmed that all injured victims had been transferred to hospital for treatment.
The authority said the airport also sustained material damage and that teams were continuing to assess the extent of the destruction. It added that further information would be released as investigations progress.
Second deadly incident reported the same day
Earlier on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy said debris from an intercepted drone targeting facilities at the Shaybah oil field killed two people and injured several others.
Saudi authorities said the drone was intercepted before reaching its intended target, but falling debris caused casualties and material damage in the surrounding area.
The latest incidents come amid heightened regional tensions and a series of attacks targeting Saudi infrastructure in recent weeks. Saudi authorities have not yet identified those responsible for the airport attack.(ILKHA)
