Nordic-Baltic Eight stand united in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) in Denmark on Wednesday, as the coalition voiced criticism of Russia’s refusal to engage in ceasefire negotiations while pledging continued military support to Ukraine.
The meeting brought together the leaders of five Nordic countries and three Baltic states. In a joint statement following the summit, participants underscored Ukraine’s readiness for an “unconditional and full ceasefire,” while noting that Russia has not committed to any steps toward ending the conflict.
The statement emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the delivery of weapons, ammunition, and air defense systems to Ukraine, highlighting that “a just and lasting peace requires robust and credible security guarantees for Ukraine.”
The NB8 leaders reaffirmed their solidarity with Ukraine, signaling unified support ahead of a broader international meeting on security guarantees scheduled in France the following day. That summit of the “Coalition of the Willing” is expected to discuss potential deployments of reassurance forces and other forms of military support in the event of a ceasefire.
In a related announcement, the Danish government revealed that a Ukrainian defense company will begin producing rocket fuel and other materials in Denmark. The company is responsible for manufacturing new Flamingo cruise missiles, reportedly capable of reaching distances of approximately 3,000 kilometers. Copenhagen described the initiative as “another step Denmark has taken to help Ukraine defend itself.”
Wednesday’s discussions underscore the continued international backing for Kyiv, even as the conflict with Russia shows little sign of de-escalation. (ILKHA)
