Magnitude 6.1 earthquake strikes Japan's Volcano Islands

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale rattled the Volcano Islands in Japan today at 11:19 am UTC, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The quake's epicenter was located 1,492 kilometers south-southwest of Yaizu city, home to 121,000 residents, and 820 kilometers from Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. The seismic event occurred at a depth of 254 kilometers.
As of now, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damages resulting from the earthquake. Emergency services are monitoring the situation closely for any developments. (ILKHA)
