Kenya: Death toll rises to 25 in tragic bus crash

The death toll from a devastating bus accident in Kisumu, western Kenya, has climbed to 25, a senior government official confirmed on Saturday.
The crash occurred on Friday evening when a bus traveling from Kakamega to Kisumu veered out of control at high speed near a roundabout and plunged into a ditch, according to Peter Maina, Nyanza regional traffic commander.
Twenty-one passengers died at the scene, while four others succumbed to their injuries in hospital, said Fredrick Ouma Oluga, principal secretary for medical services at Kenya’s Ministry of Health.
Oluga announced an urgent blood donation drive set for Saturday to support survivors receiving treatment in Kisumu’s Orthopaedic Trauma Ward. “This blood drive is crucial to ensure we have sufficient supplies to support the survivors,” he stated.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy. (ILKHA)
