Israeli forces conduct new incursion into Syria’s Daraa province
Israeli occupation forces conducted a new incursion into southern Syria on Saturday, advancing into the town of Maariya in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa province.
Local sources reported that a convoy of four Israeli military vehicles moved from the al-Jazeera barracks toward the town of Maariya. The force then proceeded to the village of Abidin and later reached the Tal al-Maghar area. According to the sources, the troops set up tents near Tal al-Maghar in Abidin village and opened fire toward surrounding agricultural land.
The latest incursion follows a similar operation a day earlier, when eight Israeli military vehicles entered the town of Jamla. In that incident, forces deployed across several neighborhoods and conducted searches of civilian homes.
Syrian authorities have strongly condemned the repeated Israeli military movements into southern Syria, describing them as clear violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israel and Syria.
Israel has carried out numerous incursions in the region in recent times, including raids, arrests, land bulldozing, and shelling of civilian areas. Syrian officials maintain that all measures taken by Israeli forces on Syrian territory are null and void and hold no legal effect under international law.
Syria has renewed its call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by putting an end to these violations and ensuring Israel’s complete withdrawal from occupied areas in southern Syria. (ILKHA)
