Iran’s Araghchi, Lebanon’s Aoun discuss Israeli attacks, regional tensions
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed the need to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon and end Israel’s occupation of the country’s southern regions during a telephone call with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Wednesday.
The two officials discussed developments in Lebanon and the wider region, as well as efforts to address escalating tensions, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to ending what he described as Israeli aggression against Lebanon and called for an end to the occupation of Lebanese territory. He also briefed Aoun on Iran’s recent diplomatic efforts concerning regional developments.
Aoun, for his part, underscored the importance of diplomatic solutions to regional crises, according to the statement.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and maintain dialogue and communication between Iranian and Lebanese officials.
The call comes amid continued concerns over Israeli military actions in southern Lebanon and broader regional instability. (ILKHA)
