Hamas: Israeli ceasefire violations undermine peace efforts in Gaza
The Hamas Movement issued an urgent call on Tuesday to international mediators, demanding immediate action to halt systemic Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. The movement warned that the "criminal enemy army" is engaged in a deliberate escalation designed to sabotage stability and deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged enclave.
In a press statement released Tuesday, Hamas accused Israel of continuing what it called a “barbaric bombardment” across Gaza, despite the existence of a ceasefire agreement. The group pointed to a deadly strike earlier in the day targeting a police station northwest of Gaza City, which reportedly killed a passing child and injured several police personnel.
Hamas described the attack as part of a broader and systematic escalation, framing it as a deliberate effort to destabilize the territory and obstruct recovery efforts following months of devastation. According to the statement, the continued airstrikes and military actions amount to a “bloody declaration” of ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people.
The movement further alleged that these actions are aimed at spreading fear and chaos, while advancing policies intended to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land. It also accused Israel of failing to uphold its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, citing continued bombardment, restrictions on essential supplies, and what it characterized as starvation tactics imposed on the civilian population.
Hamas placed responsibility on international mediators and the United Nations to take immediate and effective steps to pressure the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, to cease military operations and adhere fully to the terms of the truce.
In addition, the movement called on global civil society and “free people around the world” to intensify solidarity efforts and increase pressure campaigns against Israel and its allies, highlighting what it described as daily violence faced by Palestinians not only in Gaza but also in the occupied West Bank.
The situation in Gaza remains highly volatile, with repeated warnings from humanitarian organizations that continued military escalation could further worsen conditions for civilians already enduring severe hardship. (ILKHA)
