Ghalibaf reiterates Iran’s unwavering support for Hezbollah and Lebanon
A Hezbollah delegation visiting Tehran for the funeral of martyred Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei credited Iranian intervention and pressure on the United States and Israel with halting the war on Lebanon through the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The delegation conveyed the message to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf during meetings held on the sidelines of the funeral ceremony. They described the outcome as a significant achievement for the Resistance axis.
“Through the blessing of Iranian leadership and the loyalty of our brothers in Lebanon, Lebanon has become the first country to force the Zionist entity to retreat,” the delegation told Ghalibaf, according to statements released following the discussions.
The Hezbollah representatives emphasized that the recent confrontation demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated resistance efforts backed by Iran, highlighting the importance of regional alignment in influencing developments on the battlefield. They also addressed broader regional political and military issues during the talks.
In response, Speaker Ghalibaf underscored Iran’s firm positions in the Islamabad agreement. “There are principled red lines in the Islamabad agreement,” he said, noting that “the allies of the Islamic Republic within the Resistance Front and Lebanon are among the most important of these.”
Ghalibaf added that Iran had maintained these lines during negotiations, with a particular focus on protecting its allies. “Iran had fundamentally insisted, before signing the agreement, on including the principle of stopping the war against Iran’s allies in the Resistance Front,” he explained.
The Speaker further stated that Hezbollah’s performance in the recent war illustrated the deep connections within the Resistance network. “Hezbollah’s struggle in the recent war proved to the world the close interconnection between Resistance factions and Iran,” Ghalibaf affirmed.
The Islamabad Memorandum has emerged as a key diplomatic framework in recent regional de-escalation efforts, with both sides stressing Iran’s role in safeguarding the interests of allied groups as a non-negotiable element of the accord. (ILKHA)
