Gaza genocide enters 1,000th day as Israeli assault continues amid international inaction
The Israeli occupation’s genocidal campaign against the Gaza Strip has entered its 1,000th day, with Palestinian rights groups warning that mass killings, forced displacement, and widespread destruction continue unabated while the international community fails to take meaningful action to stop the atrocities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said developments on the ground demonstrate a systematic Israeli policy targeting every aspect of civilian life in Gaza. The organization noted that attacks have increasingly struck displacement shelters, public gathering areas, and residential neighborhoods, leaving Palestinians with no safe place to seek refuge.
According to PCHR, the ongoing assault extends beyond military operations and forms part of a broader strategy aimed at uprooting the Palestinian population from its land. The center highlighted the continued expansion of the so-called “Yellow Line,” which has dramatically reduced the areas available to Palestinians, forcing the vast majority of Gaza’s population into a fraction of the territory.
The rights group warned that more than 70 percent of Gaza’s territory has effectively become inaccessible to Palestinians, creating one of the highest population densities in the world. At the same time, large-scale demolitions of homes, civilian infrastructure, and essential services continue, particularly in eastern parts of the besieged enclave.
PCHR stressed that the repeated targeting of civilians cannot be viewed in isolation but must be understood as part of a wider campaign designed to dismantle the foundations of Palestinian society. The destruction of public institutions, infrastructure, and community structures, it said, has fueled insecurity and chaos while subjecting residents to repeated waves of displacement with no safe alternatives available.
The center further stated that Israeli forces have failed to genuinely adhere to the ceasefire agreement announced in October 2025. Despite the agreement, killings, bombardments, and destruction have continued alongside a tightened blockade and severe restrictions on the movement of people and goods.
These measures, PCHR said, have deepened Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe and pushed living conditions to unprecedented levels, exacerbating the suffering of a population already enduring months of war, displacement, and deprivation.
According to figures released by the center, since the ceasefire was announced on October 10, 2025, at least 1,053 Palestinians have been martyred and 3,406 others wounded. In addition, the bodies of 786 Palestinians have been recovered following various Israeli attacks.
The figures bring the overall toll of the Israeli assault since October 7, 2023, to 73,066 Palestinians martyred and 173,514 wounded, underscoring the devastating human cost of the ongoing war.
PCHR argued that the cumulative impact of killings, starvation, forced displacement, and widespread destruction fulfills the material elements of genocide under international law. The organization maintained that the attacks are directed not only at individuals but at the Palestinian presence in Gaza as a whole, through policies that undermine the foundations of civilian life and create conditions intended to force the population from their homeland.
Renewing its appeal to the international community, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights called for concrete measures to halt what it described as ongoing Israeli crimes, ensure protection for Palestinian civilians, and hold Israeli officials accountable through international legal and judicial mechanisms.
As Gaza marks 1,000 days under relentless assault, Palestinian rights advocates warn that continued international silence and inaction risk enabling further atrocities against a population already facing one of the gravest humanitarian crises in modern history. (ILKHA)
