Gaza death toll rises to 74,640 as Israeli genocidal attacks continue despite ceasefire
The death toll from Israel's genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,640 Palestinians killed since October 7, 2023, with another 175,947 wounded, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Saturday.
In its daily report, the ministry said Gaza hospitals had received eight bodies over the past 24 hours, including two Palestinians recovered from beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.
At least 22 wounded Palestinians were also brought to hospitals, while two additional people succumbed to injuries sustained in previous Israeli attacks.
The latest figures reflect the continuing humanitarian and health crisis in the besieged territory, where rescue teams and medical personnel face enormous challenges in recovering victims and treating the wounded amid widespread destruction and shortages of essential supplies.
The ministry said that since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, 2025, at least 1,610 Palestinians have been killed and another 5,819 wounded.
The continued casualties have raised concerns over repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire and the ongoing dangers facing civilians across the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian health authorities have repeatedly warned that the actual death toll could be higher, as many victims remain trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings or in areas that rescue teams cannot reach.
Gaza's healthcare system has also been severely weakened by more than two years of Israeli bombardment, leaving hospitals struggling to provide adequate treatment to thousands of wounded Palestinians. (ILKHA)
