Death toll reaches 27 in India’s flood disaster
The flood situation in India’s Assam State continues to worsen, with the death toll rising to 27 following a recent casualty in Khairabari, Udalguri district on Friday.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), approximately 390,491 people were affected by the flood in the last 24 hours alone.
Currently, 19 districts across the state are grappling with severe flooding, exacerbated by rivers such as Kopili, Barak, and Kushiyara flowing well above the danger mark.
A total of 1,325 villages in these districts have been inundated, further complicating relief efforts.
The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as rescue and relief operations are underway to assist those affected by the ongoing flood crisis in Assam. (ILKHA)
