Turkish, Syrian foreign ministers discuss bilateral ties, regional developments in Ankara
Türkiye and Syria have discussed steps to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation, as Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, in Ankara on Thursday.
The meeting focused on enhancing relations between Ankara and Damascus, with the two sides reviewing progress toward activating the Joint Higher Committee, which is expected to serve as a framework for advancing bilateral cooperation.
Fidan and al-Shaibani also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and the latest regional developments, according to Syria’s official news agency SANA.
The talks underscore Türkiye’s continued diplomatic engagement with Syria and efforts to strengthen bilateral ties while addressing shared regional challenges. (ILKHA)
