Tens of thousands march to Turkish parliament calling for humanitarian corridor to Gaza
Tens of thousands of people from across Türkiye poured into the streets of Ankara on Sunday, marching to the Turkish Parliament in a massive show of solidarity with the besieged people of Gaza.
Organized by the Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFİDAP), the march was held under the powerful slogan: “From Anatolia to Parliament, from Parliament to Gaza; Humanitarian Corridor to Gaza.” The event drew citizens, activists, and representatives of numerous NGOs from various cities across Anatolia, all united in their call to break the Israeli blockade and deliver urgent aid to the people of Gaza.
The march began in front of Ankara’s historic Kocatepe Mosque, with participants carrying Palestinian flags and banners condemning Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Chants of “Allahu Akbar” and slogans denouncing the Zionist occupation echoed through the streets as the crowd advanced toward Parliament.
ANFİDAP organizers said the demonstration aimed to pressure both the Turkish Parliament and the international community to take concrete action to establish a secure humanitarian corridor, enabling life-saving aid to reach the people of Gaza who have been enduring months of relentless bombardment, siege, and starvation.
A press conference was scheduled to take place at the conclusion of the march in front of the Parliament building, where civil society leaders were expected to demand immediate steps to halt the genocide and hold Israel accountable for its war crimes.
The rally was yet another reminder of the deep solidarity between the people of Türkiye and Palestine, and of the growing public demand for decisive measures against the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. (ILKHA)
