Hope Caravan launches monthly social market aid for families in Şanlıurfa
The Hope Caravan Association (Umut Kervanı Derneği) has officially launched its monthly aid distribution for June 2026, opening the doors of its specialized "social market" to hundreds of impoverished and vulnerable families across the Şanlıurfa province.
Departing from traditional aid distribution methods, the social market allows pre-registered families to browse the aisles and select their own household essentials, replicating a standard grocery shopping experience to preserve the dignity of those receiving assistance.
Mahmut Çelik, President of the Hope Caravan Association’s Şanlıurfa chapter, confirmed that preparations at the facility are complete and families have already begun arriving to collect their items.
“As the Hope Caravan Association, we are carrying out our regular monthly aid in Şanlıurfa this month as well,” Çelik said. “Over the next two days, hundreds of families will come and select the exact household items they need from the Hope Caravan Social Market. Just like shopping in a regular market, they will do their shopping here and return to their homes with peace of mind.”
According to organization officials, the market's shelves are continuously replenished through a network of local and international donors. Çelik emphasized that the continuity of the program heavily relies on this ongoing community support.
Expressing gratitude to the supporters, Çelik highlighted the direct emotional impact of the initiative.
“We wish that our philanthropists could come here and see the smiles and joy on the faces of the orphans, destitute, and needy families while they are shopping," Çelik stated. "May Allah be pleased with all our donors who contribute to us, and may He accept their good deeds."
The association head concluded with an appeal for expanded aid, noting that increased funding could significantly scale up their operations in the region. "If our philanthropists continue to support us according to their means, we will be able to reach not hundreds, but thousands of families with aid. We thank them very much.”
The distribution drive is expected to run through the end of the week, with volunteers working on-site to assist families and restock inventory. (ILKHA)
