Scholars declare Islamic unity from Mawlid Al Nabi celebration in Diyarbakır

A powerful display of Islamic unity and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause unfolded over the weekend as thousands gathered for the annual Mawlid al-Nabi celebration in Diyarbakir, a Kurdish majority city in southeastern Türkiye.
The massive Mawlid al-Nabi celebration, organized by the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation under the theme “Resistance Leader Prophet Muhammad,” transformed the city’s main squares into a sea of banners, chants, and hearts beating in unison for the beloved Messenger of Allah and the oppressed people of Gaza.
The gathering—unprecedented in size and fervor—attracted delegations of Islamic scholars, political leaders, and resistance advocates from across the globe, including Sudan, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Macedonia, and beyond. In an era marked by division and imperialist attempts to fragment the Islamic world, this event became a living testament to the global Muslim community's resilience and unshakable bond through faith.
Dr. Izzat Abdullah
“Borders Will Not Divide Us from Gaza”
One of the most powerful addresses came from Dr. Izzat Abdullah, a prominent figure in Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al-Muslimeen). His words echoed with purpose as he declared:
“This is no ordinary gathering. On this sacred day, we stand by the resistance, in spirit and in substance. The artificial borders drawn by colonialism cannot divide the hearts of the believers. We are one ummah. We are with Gaza with our wealth, with our lives, and with our dua. Every drop of blood shed in Palestine is a wound in our own bodies.”
He reminded the masses that this Mawlid was not just a celebration, but a rallying cry for liberation and justice, centered on the example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)—the first and foremost leader of resistance against tyranny and oppression.
Muhammad Taqqoush
“Gaza Is the Heartbeat of the Ummah”
Muhammad Taqqoush, leader of Lebanon’s Jamaat al-Islamiya, described the scene as a convergence of love and loyalty for the Prophet and for Al-Quds:
“In this great celebration we have witnessed something more than joy. We have seen that in the hearts of Diyarbakır’s people, there is a deep, unwavering love for the Prophet. This love includes not only emotional reverence but also firm commitment to the cause of Gaza. Jerusalem is not just a land—it is a trust, and we are its guardians.”
He added that millions gathered under the banner of resistance and vowed that they would never forget the plight of their Palestinian brothers and sisters, even if the world turns its back.
Dr. Hussein Abdulal
Ummah’s Unity on Display Amid Global Crisis
Sheikh Dr. Hussein Abdulal of Egypt’s Islamic Jihad spoke of the transcendent unity that prevailed in the gathering. He described the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the supreme unifier of the ummah—a leader who transcends sect, race, and region:
“We are living through an age of darkness, but gatherings like this rekindle the torch of unity. Look around you: we are from different nations, different languages, yet we are one body. One ummah. This is the nucleus of Islamic revival. It started in Diyarbakır today, but it will spread, Inshallah, across Afghanistan, Syria, Sudan, and Palestine.”
He declared that the resistance seen in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7 and the steadfastness of Gaza’s defenders were signs that the ummah is awakening—and that the days of division are nearing their end.
Dr. Abdulhay Yusuf
True Mawlid: Love in Action, Not Innovation
Sudanese scholar Dr. Abdulhay Yusuf, president of the Sudanese Union of Scholars, gave a stirring message that the Prophet’s birthday must be honored not with superstitions, but with action, jihad, and truth:
“This is the true essence of Mawlid: following the example of the Prophet in resisting oppression. We see in this gathering the faces of heroes of our time—Yahya Sinwar, Muhammed Al-Deif, Ismail Haniyeh, Abu Obeida. They are the continuation of the Prophet’s mission, confronting modern-day Pharaonic powers with truth and courage.”
He emphasized that the real expression of love for the Prophet (PBUH) lies not in rituals, but in defending the oppressed, standing for truth, and living by the Qur’an and Sunnah.
A Symbol of Global Islamic Revival
The Diyarbakır Mawlid was more than a local celebration—it was a clarion call to the Muslim world. With speeches translated into multiple languages and messages broadcast globally, the event sent a clear signal: the ummah is alive, united, and rising.
President of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation said in a closing statement: “We thank Allah for granting us the honor to host such a gathering. Today, we have renewed our covenant with our Prophet and with our brothers and sisters in Gaza. This path will not end until Al-Quds is free and the ummah is victorious.”
As the crowds dispersed, their chants still echoed through Diyarbakır’s streets: “Labbaik Ya Rasulallah!” and “From Diyarbakır to Gaza, One Ummah, One Cause!” (ILKHA)
