Türkiye's paid workforce grows 1.2% annually in July

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Tuesday that the number of paid employees across various sectors rose by 1.2% in July 2025 compared to the same month last year.
The total number of paid employees increased from 15,910,286 in July 2024 to 16,101,724 in July 2025, reflecting steady growth in the workforce.
Breaking down the data by sector, the trade-services sector saw a 2.5% annual increase in paid employees, while the construction sector experienced a robust 7.7% rise. However, the industrial sector faced a decline, with a 3.5% decrease in paid employees over the same period.
On a monthly basis, the total number of paid employees grew by 0.3% from June to July 2025. The construction sector led with a 0.9% increase, followed by a 0.3% rise in the trade-services sector. Meanwhile, the industrial sector saw a slight 0.1% decrease in paid employees compared to the previous month.
These figures highlight ongoing shifts in Türkiye’s labor market, with construction and trade-services sectors driving employment growth, while the industrial sector faces challenges. (ILKHA)
