UNICEF: The siege and starvation kill an average of 28 children every day in Gaza

An average of 28 children are being killed each day in Gaza amid Israel's restrictions on the delivery of direly needed humanitarian assistance and a collapse of vital services, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said in on Monday.
Children in Gaza are facing death both from attacks and from malnutrition, hunger, collapse of health services and lack of basic necessities, UNICEF said on Monday. The organisation reported that an average of 28 children are martyred every day in Gaza due to the ongoing bombardment, siege and hunger. The organisation stressed the gravity of the situation, stating that this number is equivalent to a classroom full of children. Also the organisation noted that children are in urgent need of food, water, medicine and security, and their most basic need is a ceasefire.
According to UN data, since May, more than 1,500 people have been martyred by the Zionist regime while trying to receive food aid or at aid distribution points. While more than 10 thousand people were injured in this process, at least 180 people, including 93 children, have died since 27 May due to siege and hunger.
Gaza Health Ministry emphasised that these deaths are a direct result of the Zionist regime's war and starvation policies."Take immediate action for the survival of children in Gaza and more than anything, they need a ceasefire, NOW." UNICEF called on the international community.(ILKHA)
