Ukrainian drone strikes hit Russian logistics hubs in Rostov, Volgograd oblasts

Ukrainian drones launched a major overnight attack on multiple strategic targets inside Russia, striking the Tatsinskaya railway station in Rostov Oblast, a vital logistics hub supporting both oil infrastructure and grain transport, according to local Russian media reports.
At least 10 explosions were reported across Rostov Oblast as Russian air defenses engaged incoming drones. Tatsinskaya, located roughly 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and 305 kilometers from Ukrainian-held Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, has been a consistent transit point for Moscow’s military supply lines.
The attack reportedly caused fires near the station, including at a substation in Verkhnetalovka, Millerovsky district. Temporary power outages and partial mobile network disruptions were reported in the town of Millerovo, regional power company Donenergo confirmed. Acting Governor Yuriy Slyusar claimed that all fires had been extinguished and no casualties occurred.
The strikes coincide with record-high Russian gasoline prices, with Ai-95 gasoline reaching unprecedented levels on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange (SPIMEX). Analysts suggest repeated Ukrainian strikes on oil infrastructure—including the Rostov and Moscow regions—have contributed to market instability.
The overnight attack comes just a day after a series of high-profile Ukrainian drone operations targeting Russian military assets. On Aug. 4, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) reportedly struck five Russian fighter jets at Saky airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea, destroying a Su-30SM, damaging another, hitting three Su-24s, and striking an aviation weapons depot.
That same day, a “massive” Ukrainian drone attack targeted the Archeda railway station in Volgograd Oblast, disrupting rail transport and forcing a temporary shutdown at a regional airport.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile system in occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the Ukrainian General Staff reported.
Ukraine has consistently targeted Russian logistics, airfields, and oil infrastructure deep inside Russian territory in an effort to erode Moscow’s ability to sustain its war. While Kyiv has not officially commented on the Tatsinskaya attack, it aligns with its broader strategy of undermining Russia’s combat effectiveness far from the front lines. (ILKHA)
