The Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) delivered medical treatment and health services to 40,322 patients across Khost province over the past month, provincial officials announced.
According to Mustaghfar Gurbaz, spokesperson for the provincial administration, ARCS mobile health teams examined 15,783 patients in various districts, provided maternal care to 1,787 women, and distributed essential medicines to those in need.
Vaccination campaigns reached 3,015 children and 1,965 women, while first aid services were administered to 336 injured individuals. In addition, 1,563 women received family planning counseling to support maternal and child health.
The Red Crescent also prioritized community health awareness, with 11,865 residents participating in educational sessions on hygiene, disease prevention, and nutrition. Nutritional support was extended to 3,372 children suffering from malnutrition.
Residents praised the ARCS for its outreach and called on authorities to expand comprehensive healthcare services, particularly to underserved and remote areas of Khost province.
The ARCS continues to operate as one of Afghanistan’s primary humanitarian health providers, delivering vital assistance to vulnerable populations amid ongoing economic and infrastructure challenges. (ILKHA)
