Gaza death toll surpasses 73,000 amid ongoing Israeli aggression
The humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip continues to deepen as the number of Palestinians killed in the ongoing Israeli military campaign has risen to 73,039, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry on Tuesday morning.
The ministry described the situation as an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, reporting that the vast majority of those killed are civilians, including women and children, amid sustained bombardment and military operations that have devastated large parts of the enclave since 7 October 2023.
In its latest update, the ministry also confirmed that the number of wounded has climbed to 173,388, many of whom are suffering from life-changing injuries under severely strained medical conditions, with hospitals struggling due to shortages of supplies, fuel, and essential equipment caused by the blockade and continued attacks.
Over the past 24 hours alone, hospitals across Gaza received four bodies and 20 wounded civilians, underscoring the continued intensity of violence despite international calls for restraint and protection of civilian life.
The ministry further stated that since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on 10 October 2025, at least 1,027 Palestinians have been killed and 3,280 others injured, highlighting what officials and humanitarian observers describe as persistent violations and ongoing instability on the ground.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that Gaza’s healthcare system is on the brink of total collapse, with overwhelmed hospitals, mass displacement, and widespread infrastructure destruction compounding the crisis. Aid agencies continue to call for immediate and sustained protection of civilians, unhindered humanitarian access, and a lasting end to hostilities.
As the toll continues to rise, Gaza remains at the center of one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent history, with no clear end in sight to the suffering endured by its population. (ILKHA)
