Türkiye’s capital prepares for mass march in solidarity with besieged Gaza

The Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFİDAP) has announced a major public mobilization to demand the immediate opening of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza, as the besieged enclave faces one of the gravest humanitarian catastrophes in modern history due to Israel’s ongoing blockade and military aggression.
The march, set to take place on Sunday, August 11, will begin at Güvenpark at 6:30 p.m. and proceed to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Organizers say the demonstration will carry the theme: “Humanitarian Corridor from Anatolia to Parliament, from Parliament to Gaza,” symbolizing the moral and political responsibility to break the chains of Israel’s siege.
To boost participation and public awareness ahead of the march, ANFİDAP will launch a coordinated social media campaign tonight (August 8) at 9:00 p.m., urging all socially conscious citizens to join in amplifying the call. The hashtag, expected to trend across Türkiye, will aim to rally thousands in solidarity with Gaza’s oppressed population.
In its statement, ANFİDAP emphasized the urgency of the march: “The people of Gaza are being starved, bombed, and collectively punished in violation of every principle of human dignity and international law. The opening of a humanitarian corridor is not charity — it is a moral obligation and a legal necessity. We call on every voice of conscience to join us in demanding that our Parliament take decisive action.”
The planned march comes amid worsening conditions in Gaza, where over 2 million Palestinians remain trapped under a suffocating blockade. According to humanitarian agencies, the enclave’s residents face acute shortages of food, clean water, medicine, and fuel, as Israel continues to obstruct aid deliveries despite repeated international appeals.
The Ankara demonstration is part of a growing wave of solidarity actions across Türkiye, reflecting deep public outrage at what many describe as a systematic genocide against the Palestinian people. Activists say they will not relent until the siege is broken and Gaza’s people are granted the basic rights denied to them for decades.
With public pressure mounting, ANFİDAP’s march is expected to draw significant participation from civil society groups, human rights advocates, students, and political movements united under the call for justice, dignity, and freedom for Palestine. (ILKHA)
