HÜDA PAR calls for urgent action to stop Sudan’s bloodshed
HÜDA PAR Foreign Affairs Head Hüseyin İmir has issued grave warnings regarding the escalating violence in Sudan, describing the conflict as a foreign-backed proxy war driven by greed for the country’s natural resources.
Speaking to İlke News Agency (ILKHA), İmir accused global and regional powers — particularly the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — of fueling massacres that have claimed tens of thousands of civilian lives, comparing the atrocities in Sudan to those in Gaza.
“Sudan Has Become a Battlefield for Foreign Powers”
İmir stressed that the ongoing bloodshed in Sudan cannot be explained solely by domestic factors. Instead, he said, foreign intervention and competition over Sudan’s gold and uranium wealth have transformed the nation into a geopolitical arena for global powers.
“After Darfur, the city of El-Fasher also fell under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). With direct support from the UAE, thousands of civilians were massacred,” İmir stated. “Reports indicate that nearly 14,000 innocent people were killed within the first 48 hours. The scale of these atrocities is no different from the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”
He criticized the deafening silence of the Islamic world, emphasizing that Türkiye must take stronger diplomatic steps, including sanctions and international pressure, to help stop the bloodshed.
“A Proxy War Over Gold and Uranium”
Tracing the roots of the conflict, İmir explained that Sudan has suffered from instability since the 2019 military coup and subsequent divisions within the army in 2022, which led to clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF.
“Due to Sudan’s rich gold and uranium reserves, Gulf states, Israel, and Western imperial powers have all become entangled in the conflict,” he said. “The RSF is now being used as a proxy tool in a war designed to plunder Sudan’s natural wealth, resulting in one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history.”
İmir warned that basic human needs such as education, health care, and food access are collapsing as the violence spreads.
“Nearly 14,000 Civilians Killed in 48 Hours”
Providing details from the Darfur region, İmir said that four out of five Darfur provinces are under RSF control, and that El-Fasher, the capital, recently fell with foreign assistance led by the UAE.
“The humanitarian disaster has reached unprecedented levels,” he said. “In just eight hours after El-Fasheel r’s fall, around 2,000 civilians were killed. Within 48 hours, nearly 14,000 people were massacred. There are still unreleased images of large-scale killings. Every day, this tragedy deepens.”
“The Real Goal: Exploiting Sudan’s Wealth”
İmir asserted that the chaos in Sudan serves one purpose — resource exploitation.
“The UAE alone has reportedly extracted 80 tons of gold worth around $6 billion from Darfur through its companies,” he said. “These figures prove that the real motive behind the war is not political or ethnic — it is economic colonization.”
He warned that external interference could lead to Sudan’s re-division, similar to the separation of South Sudan in 2011, stating: “The ultimate goal is to divide Sudan again and strip it of its wealth.”
“Regional Destabilization: Egypt, Chad, and Ethiopia at Risk”
The HÜDA PAR official noted that the conflict’s effects are spreading across the Horn of Africa, affecting Sudan’s neighbors directly.
“Egypt, Chad, and Ethiopia are facing growing instability as refugees flee across their borders,” he said. “The war is fueling border insecurity and economic decline throughout the region.”
“Islamic Nations’ Silence Is Shameful”
İmir sharply criticized the inaction of Islamic governments, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), for failing to respond effectively to what he called a “massacre unfolding at the heart of the Muslim world.”
“Sudan holds a historic, cultural, and religious position within the Islamic world, yet no unified initiative has been launched,” he said. “The Muslim world’s reaction is limited to symbolic statements. Sanctions should have begun with the UAE, one of the main sponsors of this bloodshed.”
“Türkiye Must Lead Diplomatically”
Calling Türkiye to action, İmir said Ankara is in a unique position to mediate the crisis due to its historic and humanitarian ties with Sudan.
“Türkiye has already shown generosity through its humanitarian organizations,” he said. “But now, it must become a leading diplomatic mediator and take stronger political measures, including sanctions and international pressure on actors like the UAE that finance instability and occupation.”
“Sudanese Islamic Movement Under Attack”
İmir also condemned what he described as an international smear campaign against the Sudanese Islamic Movement, which supports the national army.
“For real peace, international actors must pressure the RSF, not the Islamic movement,” he said. “Some mediating countries are deliberately excluding Islamic actors from negotiations, which undermines regional peace. Sudanese society’s Islamic identity must be respected.”
“The Muslim World Must Unite — Fragmentation Can No Longer Continue”
Drawing parallels between Sudan and Gaza, İmir said both crises expose the West’s double standards and the disunity of the Islamic world.
“The tragedies in Gaza and Sudan show that humanitarian values have been sacrificed for political interests,” he said. “These crises prove that the Muslim world’s internal divisions can no longer continue.”
“A Call for a Brave and Independent Islamic Stance”
Concluding his remarks, İmir urged Islamic nations to develop self-reliance and regional unity instead of waiting for Western approval or intervention.
“Unless the Islamic world learns to solve its own crises independently, such tragedies will repeat,” he warned. “We must build mechanisms based on shared will and solidarity. The time has come for the Muslim world to be an active, united, and principled actor — not a passive observer. This requires courage, independence, and moral integrity.” (ILKHA)
