Prophet’s Lovers: The light of the Companions must shine again in our age
The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation (Peygamber Sevdalıları Vakfı) President Molla Beşir Şimşek issued a powerful message on the upcoming “The Stars That Illuminate Our Path” programs to be held throughout November, a month dedicated to reviving the spirit of the noble Companions of the Prophet.
Şimşek emphasized that the events organized across Türkiye under the theme “Yolumuzu Aydınlatan Yıldızlar” (“The Stars That Illuminate Our Path”) are not mere commemorations, but a conscious effort to reawaken the example of the Sahabah — the generation that transformed the world through faith, sacrifice, and devotion to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).
Highlighting the divine transformation witnessed in early Islamic history, Şimşek said humanity once saw one of its greatest miracles: “Under the blessed guidance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a society sunk in ignorance rose to become a civilization of light and justice. The Companions were that generation — they turned the darkness of Jahiliyyah into the illumination of Islam within a short span of time.”
He described them as “the living miracle after the Qur’an — a community honored by Allah as ‘the best nation brought forth for mankind.’”
Molla Şimşek linked the message of the Sahabah to today’s global reality, stressing that their example is urgently needed in an age overshadowed by oppression and moral collapse.
“In this dark age, when Zionist brutality tramples human dignity, when Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan and many Islamic lands suffer massacres and destruction, embracing the example of the Companions has become a duty upon every believer,” he said.
Continuing his message, Şimşek announced that, as in previous years, the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation has declared November as “Sahabe Ayı” (Month of the Companions) — a time for spiritual renewal and moral awakening.
“With our ‘Stars That Illuminate Our Path’ programs, we aim to engrave the lives of these blessed guides into our hearts — to understand, live, and convey their message,” he said.
This year, the Foundation will focus on two exemplary figures whose lives embody resistance and faith: Mus‘ab ibn ‘Umayr (RA) — the first teacher of Islam in Madinah, and Nusaybah bint Ka‘b (RA) — the fearless woman who stood beside the Prophet at Uhud.
“Mekke’s noble youth, once surrounded by luxury and silk, became the humble yet radiant bearer of truth in Madinah,” Şimşek said. “Mus‘ab (RA) is the name of the one who abandoned the world for Allah’s cause — the first teacher of Islam, the pioneer of da‘wah and dedication.”
He added that Mus‘ab’s legacy continues today in the believers who refuse to abandon their mission despite war and destruction: “His spirit lives in the teachers who continue to teach Qur’an amid Gaza’s ruins, and in the youth who keep the torch of knowledge alive even when their schools are bombed.”
Speaking of Nusaybah (RA), Şimşek described her as “the mother of courage and the embodiment of faith.”
“At Uhud, she shielded the Messenger of Allah with her own body, fought even after being wounded thirteen times, and begged the Prophet to pray that she might continue fighting. She represents the honor and resilience of Muslim women — those who defend their values even amid battle,” Şimşek stated.
He drew a parallel between her spirit and the steadfastness of women across the Muslim world: “Today, the women of Gaza, Lebanon, and Sudan — who lose their loved ones but never surrender their dignity — are her true heirs.”
Şimşek explained that the Foundation’s nationwide programs will feature lectures and gatherings exploring the lives of Mus‘ab and Nusaybah, connecting their courage and sacrifice with the moral challenges of today’s world.
“These are not mere commemorations,” he said, “but efforts to revive within ourselves the same spirit that built the first generation of believers.”
Concluding his message, Şimşek declared: “We firmly believe that those who stand firm against the tyranny besieging Jerusalem and the barbarism destroying Gaza are the inheritors of this same prophetic spirit. The darkness of this age will only be dispelled by the torch lit by the Companions — by a generation that faces oppression with Mus‘ab’s sacrifice and Nusaybah’s courage.”
He prayed that the November Companions Programs would bring blessings, awaken the ummah, and contribute to the liberation of the oppressed: “May Allah make this effort a means of revival, awakening, and victory for the believers.” (ILKHA)
