Erdoğan set to push for global system reform at UNGA speech

Türkiye’s Presidency of Communications announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will use his address at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 23 to speak on behalf of oppressed peoples worldwide, reaffirming his longstanding call for global justice and reform of the international system.
In a post on his NSocial account, Presidency’s Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran said Erdoğan will once again be “the voice of the collective conscience of humanity,” raising issues from Palestine to Africa, from Karabakh to Ukraine.
“The voice rising from this podium will be that of all oppressed regions, a cry for justice and fairness,” Duran stated. He emphasized that President Erdoğan’s consistent message – first delivered from the UN podium 12 years ago with the now-famous phrase “The world is bigger than five” – challenges the dominance of the UN Security Council’s veto powers in resolving humanitarian crises.
Duran stressed that Erdoğan’s call is “not a slogan but a manifesto for a new global order of justice,” framing it as a universal demand for peace and conscience rather than a purely national initiative.
“As in his past addresses to the UN General Assembly, on September 23 we will witness our President present a vision that sides with the righteous over the powerful, offering a new roadmap for the global system,” Duran added.
Erdoğan is expected to highlight Türkiye’s position on key global crises, including the ongoing genocide in Gaza, instability in the Sahel region of Africa, the situation in Karabakh, and the conflict in Ukraine, reiterating Ankara’s role as a defender of international law and multilateral diplomacy.
