Türkiye’s overall export unit value index increased by 12.6% year-on-year in June, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The increase reflected higher unit values across most major export categories, with fuel products recording the sharpest rise.

The export unit value index for manufactured goods excluding food, beverages and tobacco increased by 11.6% compared with June 2025. The index also rose by 5.9% for food, beverages and tobacco, 4.8% for crude materials excluding fuels, and 40.7% for fuels.

Export Volume Index Rises 8.1%

Türkiye’s overall export volume index increased by 8.1% in June compared with the same month a year earlier.

The volume index rose by 19.1% for food, beverages and tobacco, while crude materials excluding fuels increased by 25.8%. Manufactured goods excluding food, beverages and tobacco recorded a 9.7% increase.

The volume index for fuels, however, fell sharply by 29.6% year-on-year.

Türkiye’s overall import unit value index increased by 12.9% in June compared with June 2025.

Fuel prices again recorded the largest increase, with the import unit value index for fuels rising by 39.3%. The index increased by 9.1% for crude materials excluding fuels and 6.6% for manufactured goods excluding food, beverages and tobacco.

The index for food, beverages and tobacco was the only major category to decline, falling by 3.0%.

The overall import volume index rose by 9.0% year-on-year in June.

Imports of food, beverages and tobacco recorded the strongest increase, rising by 46.8%. The volume index for crude materials excluding fuels increased by 25.9%, while manufactured goods excluding food, beverages and tobacco rose by 13.9%.

Fuel import volumes, meanwhile, declined by 7.5%.

Despite the annual increase, Türkiye’s export volume weakened on a monthly basis.

The calendar- and seasonally adjusted export volume index fell by 5.5%, from 147.5 in May to 139.5 in June.

On a calendar-adjusted annual basis, the export volume index decreased by 5.7%, from 148.9 in June 2025 to 140.5 in June 2026.

In contrast, the calendar- and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 8.3%, rising from 116.3 in May to 126.0 in June.

The calendar-adjusted import volume index stood at 127.6 in June, down 2.5% from 130.9 a year earlier.

Türkiye’s terms of trade stood at 90.1 in June 2026, down slightly from 90.3 in June 2025.

The terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index and multiplying the result by 100.

The latest figures indicate that while export and import unit values both recorded double-digit annual increases in June, import unit values rose slightly faster than export unit values, resulting in a modest deterioration in Türkiye’s terms of trade. (ILKHA)
