Ukrainian forces have carried out a strike on a Russian naval base in the Krasnodar region, targeting military facilities, an oil loading terminal and warships carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

In a statement shared on the X platform, Zelenskyy said the operation targeted the naval facilities in the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk, including the oil terminal, military port infrastructure and Russian vessels equipped with missile capabilities.

He said the operation was carried out jointly by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), Unmanned Systems Forces, Navy, Defense Intelligence and State Border Guard Service.

Zelenskyy described the strike as a response to Russia’s ongoing attacks against Ukraine, saying Moscow should not be allowed to continue missile and drone attacks without consequences.

The Novorossiysk naval base is one of Russia’s key Black Sea military facilities and has become an important hub for elements of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said earlier that its forces had carried out a series of air strikes against Ukrainian military and logistics targets, including defense industry facilities, ports, ships and supply centers in Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa, according to official statements.

The extent of the damage caused by the Ukrainian strike has not been independently verified. Russian officials reported casualties and damage from drone attacks in the Novorossiysk area, while Ukrainian officials focused on military targets hit during the operation.
