UK, France, and Germany issue joint call for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

The United Kingdom, France, and Germany issued a joint statement on Friday, urging an immediate end to the devastating war in Gaza and calling for urgent action to stop the worsening humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the besieged enclave.
The statement, released simultaneously by the foreign ministries of the three European powers, expressed deep concern over the scale of human suffering in Gaza, where relentless Israeli military operations have led to the deaths of tens of thousands and the near-total collapse of civilian infrastructure.
“The time has come to bring this war to an end,” the joint statement declared, emphasizing the urgent need to stop the bloodshed and allow lifesaving humanitarian operations to resume.
In a notable diplomatic rebuke, the three nations strongly opposed any Israeli attempts to impose sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories. “Such efforts are unacceptable and undermine the prospects for a just and lasting peace,” the statement said.
The trio called on Israel to fully comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law, demanding that Israeli authorities immediately permit the United Nations and international non-governmental organizations to carry out critical relief work in Gaza without obstruction.
As the war enters its tenth month with no clear end in sight, the statement reaffirmed the readiness of the UK, France, and Germany to consider additional measures to help bring about an immediate and sustainable ceasefire.
The European powers also emphasized the need for a comprehensive and credible plan for Gaza’s future. “We support efforts to establish a clear and actionable framework for the next phase, ensuring stability, recovery, and a pathway toward a political resolution,” the statement concluded.
This latest declaration signals increasing international pressure on Israel and underscores growing Western concern over the humanitarian and geopolitical consequences of the Gaza war, now widely viewed as one of the gravest humanitarian crises of the 21st century. (ILKHA)
