Over 100,000 infants face imminent death in Gaza as Israel's starvation siege tightens

The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza has announced that over 100,000 children under the age of two—including 40,000 infants less than a year old—are now facing certain death in the coming days due to the complete disappearance of infant formula and vital nutritional supplements.
This catastrophic crisis is a direct consequence of Israel’s ongoing blockade and the deliberate closure of Gaza’s border crossings, which has blocked even the most basic humanitarian necessities from entering the besieged territory. The GMO’s statement leaves no doubt: the occupation regime is carrying out a slow and systematic massacre, targeting Gaza’s most vulnerable—its babies.
“We are witnessing a deliberate, slow-paced mass killing of infants,” the GMO declared on Saturday, exposing the horrifying reality that desperate mothers have been forced to give their babies only water, as milk and formula have vanished from shelves under Israel’s starvation policy.
Hospitals across Gaza, already paralyzed by relentless bombardment and siege, are registering hundreds of new cases of life-threatening malnutrition daily. With the health sector on the brink of total collapse and no resources to provide treatment, the GMO warned that the death toll is set to rise dramatically.
So far, 122 people have died due to starvation and malnutrition, including 83 children—numbers that reflect only the beginning of what could become a genocidal death wave if urgent action is not taken.
The GMO demanded the immediate, unconditional opening of all Gaza crossings and the swift entry of infant formula and critical nutritional aid. It also called for a total end to the brutal blockade and urged the international community to act decisively to stop what it termed a “premeditated genocide.”
The statement squarely held Israel and the complicit governments supporting its aggression fully responsible for this unfolding atrocity. It further condemned the ongoing silence and inaction of the so-called international community, declaring that this quiet complicity amounts to a green light for the extermination of Gaza’s children.
What is unfolding in Gaza is not merely a humanitarian crisis—it is a war crime, a deliberate act of genocide being perpetrated in full view of the world. The Israeli occupation regime is not just bombing homes and hospitals—it is using hunger as a weapon of war, starving babies to death in their mothers’ arms.
As the world watches in silence, Gaza’s children are dying—not from lack of food in the world, but from the cruelty of a colonial power determined to erase them. The people of Gaza are calling out for justice, dignity, and life—and the world must choose: stand with the oppressed, or stand complicit in their annihilation. (ILKHA)
