Türkiye’s 17th “Goodness Ship” arrives in Egypt with 900 tons of humanitarian aid for Gaza

A major humanitarian shipment from Türkiye has reached Egypt’s Al Arish Port and is being readied for onward transfer to the Gaza Strip.
The vessel, which set sail from Mersin International Port in southern Türkiye on Tuesday, completed its Mediterranean voyage to deliver critical supplies to address the urgent needs of Gaza’s residents.
Coordinated by Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the ship’s cargo includes essential items such as ready-to-eat meals, canned goods, and baby formula. These supplies aim to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where ongoing conflict and blockades have severely restricted access to food and basic necessities.
The delivery marks Türkiye’s continued commitment to supporting Gaza, with this being the 17th aid ship dispatched as part of its humanitarian initiatives. According to recent updates from AFAD, the aid will be transferred from Al Arish Port to Gaza through coordination with Egyptian authorities and international relief organizations. The process is expected to face logistical challenges due to ongoing restrictions at Gaza’s border crossings, particularly Rafah, which remains a critical entry point for aid.
Recent posts on X highlight growing international concern over Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, with some users praising Türkiye’s efforts while others call for increased global action to address the region’s escalating needs. As of October 19, 2025, reports indicate that Gaza’s population continues to face acute shortages of food, medical supplies, and clean water, exacerbated by recent escalations in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that the “Goodness Ship” initiative reflects the country’s solidarity with the Palestinian people. “We remain committed to providing sustained support to Gaza and urge the international community to facilitate unimpeded humanitarian access,” a ministry spokesperson stated. The aid delivery comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and improve aid distribution channels to the region.
The unloading process is underway, with AFAD officials working to ensure swift and efficient distribution of the supplies to those in need. This latest shipment underscores Türkiye’s role as a key contributor to humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza, as the international community continues to grapple with the region’s complex crisis.
