Six Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrike on Jenin refugee camp
Six Palestinian civilians, including three brothers and a teenager, were killed on Tuesday night in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Jenin refugee camp, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli drone fired three missiles at a group of residents in the camp. The fatalities included Moamen Abul-Haija, 28, and his brothers Amir and Baha, along with Mahmoud Gharbiya, 15, Husam Qannuh, 34, and Ibrahim Qanniri, 23. Several others were injured in the attack.
Medical teams transported the victims to Jenin Hospital following the airstrike, with witnesses describing scenes of chaos and devastation.
The airstrike occurred amidst a 42-day-long siege imposed on the camp by Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces, which has severely restricted the movement and activities of the residents.
Eyewitness accounts alleged that PA security personnel opened fire at civilians who were attempting to evacuate the wounded from the targeted area.
In response, a senior commander of the Jenin Brigade, a local armed group, accused the Israeli military of targeting civilians and children during the operation. The commander also called on PA security forces to withdraw from the area immediately.
This latest incident marks a significant escalation in violence in the occupied West Bank, further intensifying tensions in the region. (ILKHA)
