Palestinian fighters destroy Israeli military vehicles in Gaza
Palestinian resistance fighters, led by Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades, have inflicted significant damage on Israeli occupation forces in the ongoing genocidal aggression on Gaza.
Entering its 280th day, the latest round of aggression saw the destruction of multiple Israeli military vehicles, including a Merkava 4 tank, in a sophisticated ambush orchestrated by al-Qassam.
The brigades detailed their operation, highlighting a strategic use of explosives in southwest Gaza City’s Tell al-Hawa. Fighters strategically positioned an EFP (Explosively Formed Penetrator), a Shawaz-type explosive device, and an unexploded F-16 bomb, successfully destroying two Israeli Merkava 4 tanks.
The resourcefulness of the resistance fighters extended beyond tanks. A strategically placed IED on a road in Tell al-Hawa led to the destruction of two Israeli light-armored vehicles, with one being further disabled by an al-Yassin RPG. The intensity of the fighting was underscored by accounts from fighters who engaged an Israeli infantry force in close-quarters combat, simultaneously using an anti-personnel IED to target Israeli reinforcements in Tell al-Hawa.
Further illustrating the resistance’s capabilities, the al-Mujahideen Brigades, in coordination with the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, successfully sniped an Israeli soldier in Tell al-Hawa. The Israeli occupation military, forced to reposition westwards in the neighborhood, withdrew from al-Shujaiya after suffering heavy casualties.
The strikes were not limited to Tell al-Hawa. Palestinian fighters unleashed a barrage of mortar shells and short-range rockets at Israeli occupation positions. Al-Qassam fighters continued their shelling of the strategic Netzarim Axis, a crucial logistics point for the Israeli occupation military in the northern Gaza Strip. The Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades also intensified their attacks on the axis, joined by al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades who launched two 107mm rockets at Israeli occupation forces.
The attacks extended south, with the PIJ’s armed wing firing 107mm rockets and mortar shells at the Karem Abu Salem military site, east of Rafah. In the city of Rafah, al-Qassam mortar units targeted Israeli forces occupying the Rafah border crossing. Further north, the DFLP’s National Resistance Brigades joined forces with al-Mujahideen Brigades to launch a joint rocket attack on the Nahal Oz military site, east of al-Shujaiya. Finally, in Rafah’s George Street, al-Qassam fighters targeted an Israeli Merkava tank and armored personnel carrier with two al-Yassin shells.
These coordinated attacks underline the continued resistance of Palestinian fighters in the face of the ongoing Israeli occupation and highlight the challenges facing the Israeli military in their efforts to control the Gaza Strip. The intensity of the recent clashes and the successful deployment of complex tactics demonstrate the resilience of Palestinian resistance fighters and their determination to fight for their freedom.
