Nigeria: Tragic road crash on Kaduna-Abuja expressway claims 16 lives and injures 27

A devastating road crash on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway has resulted in the loss of 16 lives, with 27 individuals sustaining injuries, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command.
The Sector Commander, Mr. Kabir Nadabo, disclosed that the fatal incident occurred at Audu Jhangon village along the expressway on Sunday at 05:20hrs. The accident involved a Daf trailer with registration number KUJ 430XC, which, carrying an overloaded cargo, lost control and veered into a ditch.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have been operating at a high speed, potentially due to fatigue. The rescue efforts were promptly carried out by the combined teams of RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1.16B Dutse Outpost.
Out of the 65 people involved in the crash, 27 suffered injuries and 16 lost their lives. The injured have been transported to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
Upon receiving news of the tragic incident, Sector Commander Kabir Nadabo personally visited the scene to gather first-hand information and direct the rescue operations. He also ensured the efficient evacuation of the deceased to the morgue and the removal of the accidented trailer blocking part of the road.
Nadabo provided reassurance that the ongoing operations have cleared the road for normal traffic movement. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. (ILKHA)
